14 Ways to Fall in Love with Columbia

February’s most notable holiday might fall on the 14th, but we think the best thing you do this month could be escaping with your girlfriends (single and taken!) to Columbia. Whether you are looking to relax or go all out, this list will help you and your ladies beat the winter blues.

1.  Stretch out with some yoga.

Select from an array of yoga options at places like Alley Cat Yoga or Sumits Hot Yoga. From beginning to experts to something restorative, pick a class all your friends will love and start your day centered.

2. Make your own art.

No need to be a professional artist to leave Columbia with a beautiful handmade souvenir! Both the Canvas on Broadway and Paint the Town offer a full calendar of guided painting classes for groups. Get the creative juices flowing with a bar at both locations.

3. Unwind at the spa.

If the only kind of painting you like is the kind involving your nails, sign your group up for spa treatments at relaxing locations such as Riversong or Salon Adair. You’ll leave refreshed and ready to explore even more of Columbia.

4. Take in the views at a winery.

Les Bourgeois Vineyards is just 15 minutes west of Columbia in charming Rocheport. With stunning blufftop views of the Missouri River, a casual A-Frame with large outdoor patio and a delicious bistro offering up seasonal cuisine, you might find yourself visiting again and again.

5. Create a signature scent.

A visit to Makes Scents in The District  isn’t complete without creating your very own scent. Whether you want something light and fresh or something more standout and alluring, the Makes Scents staff has the perfect concoction for you!

6. Find some couture.

Elly’s Couture is home to jewelry, dresses, shoes and more. With brands ranging from Betsey Johnson to Lacoste, everyone in your group is sure to find something that fits their style.

7. Watch a film that will make you think.

Columbia’s independent film house, Ragtag Cinema, shows films that run from serious documentaries to Oscar nominated animation. Grab a beer from the bar and a snack from Uprise Bakery before settling into your seat.

8. Sing along.

The Blue Note has hosted some of the most famous musical acts in history (think Johnny Cash and Snoop Dogg), and their calendar is always full of popular and up-and-coming talent.

9. Sing along some more!

Just a few blocks away, stop in to the Penguin Piano Bar and watch two pianists duel away at requests from the crowd.

10. Lounge.

Sip something fancy at Room 38 or Vault and instantly feel more swanky.

11. Laugh out loud.

Déjà Vu Comedy Club has been bringing in world-class comedians for almost 40 years.

12. Grab something sweet.

Sneak down to Sparky’s and indulge in some of the best ice cream you’ll ever have. From vanilla to wine with chocolate, the flavors are perfection.

13. Take a taxi.

Get a safe ride home at one of the four taxi stands in The District.

14. Sleep in…then have some brunch.

To top off your visit, check out Sophia’s, Bleu or 44 Stone Pub for a uniquely Columbia brunch.
