Are you a bit of an adrenaline junkie? Or do you have outdoor fever? Definitely visit St. Joe State Park in Park Hills where you can partake in an array of outdoor adventures. If you want a few days of outdoor fun, just camp out at one of their campsites which accommodate families, RVs and even horses!
If you have one, bring your off-road vehicle (and necessary safety equipment) to explore the 54 miles of trails and sand flats. Four-wheelers, dune buggies, motorcycles, Utility All-Terrain Vehicles and snow mobiles are welcome at St. Joe. I personally got to experience the trails from my four-wheeler — what a rush! If you aren’t an experienced rider I suggest you stick to the sand flats — which are still incredibly fun. For those who have been riding for a while — roam the trails! They have some steep, rocky inclines, wooded paths and open dirt/sand areas to challenge even experienced off-roaders.
If you don’t have access to an off-road vehicle, there is still so much fun to be had at St. Joe. You can partake in canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, camping, swimming and fishing. There are four lakes at this state park, two of which have swimming beaches. Each lake allows boats and is stocked with bass, crappie and catfish for your angling enjoyment.
