Missouri and its many attractions and destinations are often celebrated by publications across the nation. This month, our ‘Best of Show’ series features just a handful of these accolades from the past year. If you haven’t already, you’ll definitely want to add these destinations to your travel calendar in 2016.
You may be surprised, but never disappointed, by the many things there are to do in Boonville, and Smithsonian agrees. This small Missouri town was picked as number nine on the magazine’s “20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2015.”
Each year, the Smithsonian looks at American towns with a population of under 20,000, and compares them to the number of cultural attractions, historical sites, outdoor activities and more. This year, beautiful Boonville, and its variety of things to see and do, made the list. The magazine called out many attractions, including the Katy Trail and Warm Springs Ranch, among others.
The Katy Trail is the longest rails-to-trails project in the U.S., stretching 240 miles across the state. It follows the Missouri River for much of its journey, and is especially beautiful near Boonville. Warm Springs Ranch is the home of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales, and tours are offered on April through October, six days a week (the ranch is closed to the public on Wednesdays).
