Missouri has many hidden gems, from underground show caves to unheard of natural forests. It is Blue Spring, however, that caught the attention of the Weather Channel. In 2015, the site featured the “Most Amazing Hidden Gem in Every State,” and Blue Spring, near Eminence, won the title in Missouri.
Blue Spring won this title because it is “one of the most beautiful springs in the state because of its vivid azure color,” says the article. And the half mile walk from the parking lot makes it feel all the more secluded from the rest of the world. The 310-foot deep spring can also be reached via canoe from the Current River, which the spring feeds into.
This area is part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, the first designated national park area for a wild river system. It consists of both the Current River and the Jacks Fork River, and is the perfect area for those looking to spend a little time in the water, whether that is relaxing in a canoe, exercising in a kayak, or fishing on the riverbanks.
