The judging is complete and it’s time to formally announce the winners of the Missouri Division of Tourism’s PictureMO contest, conducted as part of our recently established Flickr photo group.
The PictureMO group began earlier this year with two goals in mind: to showcase the talents of Missouri’s shutterbugs and to help build the Division of Tourism’s photo library. Winners are announced quarterly; winning photos may be published in the 2014 Official Missouri Travel Guide and may appear on other MDT marketing materials.
And the winners are …
Candace8403, (also known as Candace Root of O’Fallon) who took top honors with her submission, Fall Color Over Mississippi. “I chose to submit this photo because I love how it highlights the beautiful fall color, as well as the farmland below in the river bottoms.”
Candace says she enjoys photography because it “captures moments in time or can draw someone’s attention to something they may not have seen themselves.” Congratulations and thanks for your submission, Candace!
In second place was Pix by Kel, who submitted Trees and Fog, which was taken at Cuivre River State Park. “My parents took me there often as a child, and I still love to visit several times a year,” says Kel (Kelly J. Creech of Jefferson City).
Creech says the most striking part of this photo is the “dreamlike quality. … Every time I see it, I wish I could just plop down in the middle of those trees and daydream.”
The third-place winner in this quarter’s contest features Missouri’s largest city.
“What really stands out to me is how well everything goes together, from the classic buildings like Union Station and the Western Auto sign, to the more modern statues at Bartle Hall and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts,” says bdevero (AKA Brian Devero of Grandview).
Congratulations to our winners and remember, MDT encourages photographers from across Missouri to participate in PictureMO. For complete contest entry rules, please visit the Photo Group Rules Page.
