Girlfriend getaways. For those that take them, this means you are now thinking of all the fun times you and your friends have had and thinking you need to start planning the next one. If your group of girlfriends is like mine, you are always looking for new ideas and things to do. Missouri has so many choices, even for this time of year, and we have compiled some of them in an article on News.VisitMo.com.
My girlfriends and I have two shopping trips that we go on each year. We go to Kansas City in springtime and go to St. Louis in the fall. These trips are, for the most part, about shopping and spending time with the girls. We do have our favorite places in each location, including Kona Grill and Tom Fooleries on the Country Club Plaza, and Historic Main Street in St. Charles. A girlfriend must-eat is the Cupcakery in the Central West End, and just next door is Mandarin Lounge, the first rooftop lounge to open in this area, and a great place for an evening out.
One of my largest girlfriend getaways was actually a bachelorette party held at the Lake of the Ozarks, with more than 20 ladies participating. This getaway included renting a couple of condos at the Lodge of the Four Seasons; they were brand new and absolutely wonderful. We all enjoyed massages at a local spa, hung out on a dock on the Lake, and spent the night hours at Toad Cove. Toad Cove has several entertainment options, including live bands outside, DJs inside and several restaurants, to choose from. Some of the girls came down a night early and went to a local dueling piano bar. Of course, you can’t go to the Lake without doing some shopping. Several of us had to sneak away for part of the time to get to the Osage Beach Premium Outlet Mall with shops ranging from Coach and Nine West to Children’s Place (for the moms reading this) and BCBG.
I also wanted to include ideas from others ladies on what they do for their girlfriend getaways.
A group of my scrapbooking friends get together every year and head to Branson to Big Cedar Lodge for the weekend. They have a weekend of scrapbooking and pampering and meals that always include chocolate. On their way to Branson they stop in Springfield at a couple of the scrapbook stores and then make a stop at the scrapbook store on the Highway 76 strip once they arrive in Branson. Once they have settled in at Big Cedar, they don’t leave, unless they run out of supplies. It is very much like a slumber party for them, and they stay up all night scrapbooking and chatting.
Another one of my friends is a stay-at-home mom. She and other play group moms went on a camping expedition this past summer. They left the kids and hubbies behind and headed for a state park with campgrounds. They only camped one night, but had a great time just getting away from it all.
Wine and chocolate all in one place, find the details on where you’ll find this, and yet another girlfriend getaway idea, on MoPhotoGirl’s blog.
