Golfing at Lake of the Ozarks

While some of the world’s best golfers are in Missouri this weekend to participate in the Curtis Cup Match at the St. Louis Country Club and the first-ever Big Cedar Legends of Golf Tournament in Branson, a great golf experience is waiting for you, too, in the Show-Me State.

Best of all, you don’t have to be an awesome collegiate player or a seasoned pro to enjoy it!

Fabulous golf courses are situated around Missouri, so you don’t have to travel far for a great round (well, at least a great course – how great the round is kind of depends on you).

One of the best places for a great golf experience is Central Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks, home to the 13-course Lake of the Ozarks Golf Trail. The courses along the route cater to golfers of every skill level and offer spectacular views of rolling hills, forested areas and, of course, the Lake of the Ozarks itself.

Here’s a VisitMO.com Trip Idea to help inspire your Lake area golf outing.

In addition to great golf outings, many courses at the Lake of the Ozarks are connected to resort properties where you can stay, play, dine and unwind.

Old Kinderhook.

Old Kinderhook Golf Resort.

Among them is the Old Kinderhook Golf Resort, which offers all the amenities you need for a golf-centric vacation.  The Tom Weiskopf signature course features 18 challenging holes; you have to card a 71 to shoot par. On-site you find homes and cottages you can rent for a weekend or a week. Enjoy fine dining – or just grab a burger – at the Trophy Room restaurant and unwind completely with a trip to Elements Spa.

In early 2015, the site plans to open The Lodge at Old Kinderhook, an 84-room lodge currently under construction. The Lodge will feature an ice-skating rink, which makes a nice winter companion to the resort’s warm-weather options (outdoor pool and tennis courts).

Tan-Tar-A Resort offers plenty of stay-and-play options, as it features two distinct courses, The Oaks (18 holes, par 71) and Hidden Lakes (nine holes, par is 35). Take the family along to enjoy all the fun of Timber Falls Indoor Water Park. It includes water slides, an activity pool and a lazy river – which comes in handy after you burn your energy playing golf, whooshing down water slides and trying to keep up with the kids at the activity pool.

This is just a sampling of what you find on your Lake of the Ozarks golf outing. Learn more about Central Missouri online at VisitMO.com.
