The votes are in and yet again we have found many talented camera-savvy Missourians who have submitted their masterpieces to PictureMO. This time around Missouri resident shutterbugs were inspired by scenes featuring bodies of water.
What is PictureMO, you ask? The PictureMO Flickr photo group began in early 2013 as a way to show off the photography geniuses of Missouri and to build the Missouri Division of Tourism’s photo gallery. First through third place winners are announced quarterly and winning photos may be published in the 2014 Official Missouri Travel Guide and may appear on other MDT marketing materials.
Drum roll please…

AKA: Phil Davis
Hometown: Kearney, Missouri
Photo Submission: “Morning Fog”
Davis describes his photo:
It was early spring just before everything started blooming. There wasn’t much color so the turquoise spring at Alley Mill was an obvious choice. The reflections of the dark trees on the pool with the light fog hanging just above the fall seem to draw your eye to the center of the picture.”
Phil has been interested in landscape photography since the seventies after seeing photos by David Meunch.
AKA: Candace Root
Hometown: O’Fallon, Missouri
Photo Submission: “Sunset over Table Rock Lake”
Root describes her photo:
I chose this photo because it showed the vibrant colors of the sunset reflected in the lake water. I have many happy memories of time spent at that lake.”
Congratulations to our winners and remember, MDT encourages photographers from across Missouri to participate in PictureMO. For complete contest entry rules, please visit the Photo Group Rules Page.
