A Weekend Getaway in Kansas City

If you find yourself looking for a fun getaway this summer, consider spending a weekend in Kansas City.

Evening:  After you’ve settled into your hotel, head out to Kauffman Stadium to catch a Kansas City Royals game. The best thing about Friday games in the summer? Fireworks! Watch fireworks light up the sky from your seat at The K through Friday, August 19.

Late Night: Finish your evening with late night jazz at one of KC’s many jazz venues.  More than 20 area nightclubs feature Kansas City’s signature sound on a regular basis.

Morning: Hit the outdoor shopping districts at Zona Rosa, the Country Club Plaza and The Village at Briarcliff. You’ll find big-name brands as well as small, local establishments and a long list of delicious restaurant options, perfect  for fueling up before an afternoon craft brewery tour.

Afternoon: Kansas City’s craft beer scene is brewing up a storm. Plan your route (and designated driver!) to experience some of the many breweries putting KC on beer lovers’ maps.

Evening: Just because it’s late night doesn’t mean you can’t grab a doughnut! Bite into delicious doughnut-based fare at Doughnut Lounge in Westport, open until 1 a.m. on Saturday nights.

Day: Open at 10 a.m., The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is a great way to spend a Sunday. You can take a (careful) spin through the Glass Labyrinth on the South Lawn and pop inside to take a break from the sun to view thousands of incredible works of art.

As you hit the road and depart from KC, grab a cold one. A cold brew coffee, that is! A stop at City Market Coffee Roasters will provide a tasty treat as you say goodbye to KC.
